Inlays and onlays are restorations that are fitted to a cavity in a tooth and bonded in place. For larger cavities they are stronger and more durable than a regular filling. They may be used to restore a broken tooth or may replace an existing large filling. They are used when the damage is not severe enough to require a crown.

Inlays and onlays have many benefits over regular fillings. They are stronger, more durable, and they save more tooth structure than a crown. They are long lasting, and are a perfect alternative to replace your old Mercury amalgam fillings so it's.

In the past, onlays and inlays took several visits and required temporaries; now, using the CEREC system, we can generally apply these in one visit.

Tooth-Colored, Durable Onlays and Inlays with CEREC

Onlays and inlays are used to restore a broken tooth or replace existing large fillings when the damage is not severe enough to require a crown. They are an excellent alternative to large fillings because they are more durable.

We custom make onlays and inlays in our own laboratory using the CEREC system. CEREC allows us to create beautiful tooth-colored onlays and inlays from strong, durable porcelain that matches the translucence, color and brilliance of your natural, healthy teeth. They are made of a porcelain that closely matches the physical properties of natural teeth and expands and contracts with your teeth. A CEREC restoration is less prone to cracks and flaws than other types of restorations because it comes from a single block.

Traditional onlays and inlays take more than one visit and can require temporary fillings. The CEREC system allows us to create an onlay or inlay in one visit.
